Okay, so yes – this is technically food related… because we do eat them.

But really, this endeavor was about creating something beautiful.

For Easter, we set out to make naturally dyed eggs using inspiration straight from our kitchen and garden. Turmeric, beet juice, onion skins, red cabbage – simple ingredients transformed into delicate, moody hues.

Every time we color eggs, it’s a bit of an experiment. We remember the general method, but there’s never an exact recipe. Onion skins simmering on the stove give an unexpectedly rich color. Beet juice in one jar, turmeric in a cup… a natural brown egg goes in and, when lifted out, it’s a muted green or maybe robin’s egg blue. A naturally blue egg becomes deeper blue. There’s probably science behind it -but we’re happy to leave that to the scientists.

For us, the magic is in the mystery -and the fun is in the doing.

They aren’t just Easter eggs but little works of art. Your Easter table will feel extra special with a bit of whimsy and a touch of surprise.

We encourage you to play with your food too.
