What do you do when you have a bushel of fresh-picked green apples and a bottle of Widow Jane? At The Long Fork, we make salted caramel apples!
Caramel is easier than you think! Bourbon lends itself to caramel in the best way possible. We cooked sugar and cream and a dash of bourbon down to the desired consistency. We then rolled the apples in the caramel, topped some with toasted pepitas and Amagansett sea salt, some just salt. The result was outstanding, evidenced by the lack of leftover apples.
We highly recommend it – they are as much fun for adults as they are for kids! Big hit at the office.
